Our structural engineering services cover any engineering project, big or small. For example, DBCon can design sheds (up to 50 metres span) usually in cold rolled steel construction. Residential (single through to multi-storey), commercial and industrial buildings are our bread and butter. We have been designing retaining walls of all types and sizes for 30 years. Our focus is on designing the most economical solution for our clients project.

Our Chartered Geotechnical Engineer peer reviews all soils, storm water and waste water design work and undertakes complex slope assessments, design work and civil requests.
This service is treated as high priority. We conduct a thorough process to evaluate your building based on a comprehensive seismic assessment set by the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering. These are driven by banks, purchasers and tenants (particularly government departments). We design the most economical solution for our clients strengthening work.

Brief soils testing and reporting as required by councils for subdivision approval; confirming that a lot is suitable for construction.
Site specific reports to confirm whether a proposed building platform is “good ground” as defined in NZS3604 and appropriate for construction in accordance with this code. Where the soils do not meet these standards, the information gathered may be used by DBCon or others to design specific foundations or ground improvement.
Infiltration testing to determine the permeability of soils for design of on site stormwater disposal as required by councils, this information may also be used for design of rural wastewater (sewerage) systems.
Where soils that are not “good ground” are encountered, often minor improvements will bring the site up to standard at minimal cost.

For rural properties not connected to public sewer systems, our Environmental Engineer can design wastewater systems which involve septic tanks or advanced treatment systems and effluent disposal fields.
