The Role

Hamilton’s building sector is experiencing significant growth and with our strong industry partnerships our Hamilton based team are part of the action, which is why we need you.

 

Working closely with our Engineers you’ll complete civil and structural working drawings in line with NZ Codes of Practice.  You’ll enjoy the fast-paced nature and variety of the residential/industrial sector, working with low/medium rise buildings and wide span sheds primarily using timber detailing, hot rolled and cold form steel.

 

Whilst this role will primarily support the Hamilton team you will also enjoy being part of our wider team with the opportunity to spend time in our Taupo office.

 

You:

You’ll be familiar with the structural and civil drafting requirements for an engineering consultancy and confident putting a building together from an engineer’s scope.

 

The majority of our current work is in AutoCAD, so this must be your tool of choice however for a skilled Revit user there is potential to provide guidance for our team.  You’ll thrive in an environment with strong systems and processes and we welcome your contribution to continuous improvement and effective knowledge sharing.

 

It is essential that you also offer:

  • Residential and Industrial drafting experience
  • Knowledge of NZ Engineering environment and building standards
  • Able to manage your time effectively to ensure the timely delivery of documentation
  • Strong attention to detail, good document control processes, and collaborative team approach.

The Role

Working closely with our Project Co-ordinators you’ll support the Hamilton engineering team by setting up site inspection jobs in our Time/Cost system and ensuring they have all the information they need at their fingertips whilst out on site.  There is scope to further develop your skills by assisting our Project Coordinators in gathering relevant job information from clients and council websites.

 

You’ll also be the go-to for general office tasks such as reception, grocery/stationery orders, meeting room set up etc and be happy to put your hand to what is needed to keep our office humming.

 

You:

As an experienced office administrator, you’ll be highly organised, comfortable with juggling multiple priorities and able to work with a sense of urgency to meet agreed timeframes.  Confident with using several software systems to achieve your goals you’ll demonstrate the ability to follow an agreed process as well as agile in learning new technology and adapting evolving processes.

 

To be successful in this position you will also offer:

  • Capable user of MS Office and time cost/workflow systems

You’ll be part of our multi-disciplinary team including structural, civil and geotechnical engineers.  With a focus on residential, commercial and light industrial development your work will include designs and drawings using timber, steel, blockwork and concrete design.

 

You:

With a minimum of 2 years structural engineering experience under your belt including design, drafting and site work you’ll have proven ability for managing a whole job from scope to final document, including being:

  • An effective communicator with all stakeholders confident to pick up the phone to clarify and record a clear job scope
  • Able to read and create drawings in AutoCAD or by hand
  • Confident completing your assigned design work independently seeking advice as needed
  • Experienced at producing a Structural Report, and
  • Familiar with completing Producer Statements

This role offers extreme variety from the complete design of large commercial/industrial projects down to single element design on residential projects.  Your work will include general structural designs using timber, steel and some concrete design for light residential/industrial projects.  Working with our focussed Hamilton team you’ll also support and work alongside our team in Taupo.
